ABSTRACT

With the development and progress of intelligent algorithms, more and more social robots are used to interfere with the information transmission and direction of international public opinion. This paper takes the agenda of COVID-19 in Twitter as the breakthrough point, and through the methods of web crawler, Twitter robot detection, data processing and analysis, aims at the agenda setting of social robots for China issues, that is, to carry out data visualization analysis for the stigmatized China image. Through case analysis, concrete and operable countermeasures for building the international communication system of China image were provided. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

High-sensitivity cardiac troponins expedite the evaluation of patients with chest pain in the emergency department. The utility of troponins extends beyond the acute coronary syndromes to accurate the diagnosis of myocardial injury. Troponins are best friends for physicians;however, they are a double-edged sword if not interpreted appropriately. Misdiagnosis is harmful with regard to patient outcomes. The present review focuses on the recent updates in the understanding and interpretation of high-sensitivity troponins in various acute clinical settings. Common mistakes and gray zones in the interpretation of troponins, the concept of myocardial injury versus infarction, newer entities like myocardial infarction (MI) with Nonobstructive Coronary Arteries, recent controversies over the definition of periprocedural MI, complementary role of imaging in the diagnosis of myocardial injury and the role of troponins in the current COVID-19 pandemic are discussed.Copyright © 2022 Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThe study assessed the impact of technostress creators, work–family conflict and perceived organisational support (POS) on work engagement for employees operating within the virtual and hybrid work settings. The idea is to redefine the antecedents of work engagement in work settings that are characterised by excessive technology and work–family conflict.Design/methodology/approachData gathered from 302 academics and support staff employees at a selected university in South Africa were utilised to assess the abovementioned relationships via variance-based structural equation modelling.FindingsThe combined effect of technostress, work–family conflict and POS on work engagement indicates that work–family conflict is a critical component in the relationship between technostress and work engagement. Although POS is seen as a job resource that lessens stress, the study found that the influence of work–family conflict is stronger than that of POS;hence, a negative influence is reported on work engagement. Despite the presence of support, overwhelming technostress creators and work–family conflict issues increase demands and influence work engagement negatively.Research limitations/implicationsThe results noted that, in hybrid and virtual work settings, managers can drive employee engagement by focussing on designing more favourable work–life balance (WLB) policies, providing adequate information communication technology (ICT) support, fostering aspects of positive technology and defining the boundaries between work life and family time.Practical implicationsThe managers need to realise the detrimental effects of both technostress and work–family conflict on work engagement in virtual and hybrid work settings. Expanding the personal and job resources of individuals in hybrid and virtual settings is critical to enable them to meet the additional work demands and to manage the strain imposed by technostress. Instituting relevant organisation support has proved to be inadequate to address the challenges relating to technostress and work–family conflict. Therefore, introducing WLB policies that assist employees to set clear boundaries between work and family time to avoid burn out and spillover is critical. This is especially important when dealing with technostress creators in the remote work setting. Additionally, providing adequate ICT support as well as training related to use of different devices and software should be part of the organisational culture.Social implicationsA manageable and reasonable workload should be maintained bearing in mind the complexity and ambiguity associated with the hybrid work setting. Managers should make allowances for employees to adjust managers' schedules to accommodate personal obligations, as well as adjust employees' workloads to accommodate family responsibilities. As for the coping strategy of technostress and work–family conflict, considering the positive effects of the supportive work environment is important.Originality/valueThis study provides a model on the interaction of the redefined antecedents (technostress and work–family conflict) of work engagement in high-tech environments such as virtual and hybrid work settings.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: One-third of pregnant women will experience worsening asthma requiring emergency hospitalization. However, no report comprehensively discussed the management of asthma attacks in pregnant women in impoverished settings. We attempt to illuminate what general practitioners can do to stabilize and improve the outcome of severe acute asthma exacerbations in primary care with resource limitations. CASE REPORT: A nulliparous 29-year-old woman in her 21st week of pregnancy presented severe acute asthma exacerbation in moderate persistent asthma with uncontrolled asthma status along with gestational hypertension, uncompensated metabolic acidosis with a high anion gap, anemia, respiratory infection, and asymptomatic bacteriuria, all of which influenced her exacerbations. This patient was admitted to our resource-limited subdistrict hospital in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic for optimal stabilization. Crystalloid infusions, oxygen supplementation, nebulized beta-agonist with anticholinergic agents, inhaled corticosteroids, intravenous methylprednisolone, broad-spectrum antibiotics, subcutaneous terbutaline, mucolytics, magnesium sulphate, oral antihypertensives, and continuous positive airway pressure were used to treat her life-threatening asthma. After she was stabilized, we referred the patient to a higher-level hospital with more advanced pulmonary management under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team to anticipate the worst scenario of pregnancy termination. CONCLUSION(S): Limitations in primary care, including the lack of sophisticated intensive care units and laboratory panels, may complicate challenges in managing severe acute asthma exacerbation during pregnancy. To enhance maternal-fetal outcomes, all multidisciplinary team members should be well-informed about key asthma management strategies during pregnancy using evidence-based guidelines regarding the drug, rationale, and safety profile.Copyright © 2023 Muhammad Habiburrahman, Triya Damayanti, Mohammad Adya Firmansha Dilmy, Hariyono Winarto.

ABSTRACT

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of wearing face masks as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of the virus. In medical settings, such as hospitals and clinics, healthcare professionals and patients are required to wear surgical masks for infection control. However, the use of masks can hinder facial recognition technology, which is commonly used for identity verification and security purposes. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) based approach to detect faces covered by surgical masks in medical settings. We evaluated the proposed CNN model on a test set comprising of masked and unmasked faces. The results showed that our model achieved an accuracy of over 96% in detecting masked faces. Furthermore, our model demonstrated robustness to different mask types and fit variations commonly encountered in medical settings. Our approaches reaches state of the art results in terms of accuracy and generalization. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

ABSTRACT

Open-retrieval question answering systems are generally trained and tested on large datasets in well-established domains. However, low-resource settings such as new and emerging domains would especially benefit from reliable question answering systems. Furthermore, multilingual and cross-lingual resources in emergent domains are scarce, leading to few or no such systems. In this paper, we demonstrate a cross-lingual open-retrieval question answering system for the emergent domain of COVID-19. Our system adopts a corpus of scientific articles to ensure that retrieved documents are reliable. To address the scarcity of cross-lingual training data in emergent domains, we present a method utilizing automatic translation, alignment, and filtering to produce English-to-all datasets. We show that a deep semantic retriever greatly benefits from training on our English-to-all data and significantly outperforms a BM25 baseline in the cross-lingual setting. We illustrate the capabilities of our system with examples and release all code necessary to train and deploy such a system1 © 2023 Association for Computational Linguistics.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) sponsored a TikTok contest to improve vaccination rates among young people. This analysis sought to advance understanding of COVID-19 vaccine perceptions among ADPH contestants and TikTok commenters. APPROACH: This exploratory content analysis characterized sentiment and imagery in the TikTok videos and comments. Videos were coded by two reviewers and engagement metrics were collected for each video. SETTING: Publicly available TikTok videos entered into ADPH's contest with the hashtags #getvaccinatedAL and #ADPH between July 16 - August 6, 2021. PARTICIPANTS: ADPH contestants (n = 44) and TikTok comments (n = 502). METHOD: A content analysis was conducted; videos were coded by two reviewers and engagement metrics was collected for each video (e.g., reason for vaccination, content, type of vaccination received). Video comments were analyzed using VADER, a lexicon and rule-based sentiment analysis tool). RESULTS: Of 44 videos tagged with #getvaccinatedAL and #ADPH, 37 were related to the contest. Of the 37 videos, most cited family/friends and civic duty as their reason to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Videos were shared an average of 9 times and viewed 977 times. 70% of videos had comments, ranging from 0-61 (mean 44). Words used most in positively coded comments included, "beautiful," "smiling face emoji with 3 hearts," "masks," and "good.;" whereas words used most in negatively coded comments included "baby," "me," "chips," and "cold." CONCLUSION: Understanding COVID-19 vaccine sentiment expressed on social media platforms like TikTok can be a powerful tool and resource for public health messaging.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has further aggravated the burden of mental health and presents an opportunity for public health research to focus on evidence-based interventions appropriate for populations residing in resource-constrained, post-conflict settings. Post-conflict settings have a higher service gap in mental health and fewer protective factors, such as economic and domestic security. Post-conflict settings are defined as locations where open warfare has ended but resulting challenges have remained for years. A strong emphasis on the engagement of diverse stakeholders is needed to arrive at sustainable and scalable solutions to mental health service delivery. This review discusses mental health service delivery gaps in post-conflict settings, highlights the urgency of the matter in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides recommendations for service gaps from evidence-based case study exemplars with an implementation science lens using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) as guide to improving adaptation and uptake.

BACKGROUND: Knowledge of the specific dynamics of influenza introduction and spread in university settings is limited. METHODS: Persons with acute respiratory illness symptoms received influenza testing by molecular assay during October 6-November 23, 2022. Viral sequencing and phylogenetic analysis were conducted on nasal swab samples from case-patients. Case-control analysis of a voluntary survey of persons tested was used to identify factors associated with influenza; logistic regression was conducted to calculate odds ratios and 95% CIs. A subset of case-patients tested during the first month of the outbreak was interviewed to identify sources of introduction and early spread. RESULTS: Among 3268 persons tested, 788 (24.1%) tested positive for influenza; 744 (22.8%) were included in the survey analysis. All 380 sequenced specimens were influenza A (H3N2) virus clade 3C.2a1b.2a.2, suggesting rapid transmission. Influenza (OR [95% CI]) was associated with indoor congregate dining (1.43 [1.002-2.03]), attending large gatherings indoors (1.83 [1.26-2.66]) or outdoors (2.33 [1.64-3.31]), and varied by residence type (apartment with ≥1 roommate: 2.93 [1.21-7.11], residence hall room alone: 4.18 [1.31-13.31], or with roommate: 6.09 [2.46-15.06], or fraternity/sorority house: 15.13 [4.30-53.21], all compared with single-dwelling apartment). Odds of influenza were lower among persons who left campus for ≥1 day during the week before their influenza test (0.49 [0.32-0.75]). Almost all early cases reported attending large events. CONCLUSIONS: Congregate living and activity settings on university campuses can lead to rapid spread of influenza following introduction. Isolating following a positive influenza test or administering antiviral medications to exposed persons may help mitigate outbreaks.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The WHO Non-Communicable Diseases Kit (NCDK) was developed to support care for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in humanitarian settings. Targeting primary healthcare, each kit contains medicines and supplies that are forecasted to meet the needs of 10,000 people for 3 months. This study aimed to evaluate the NCDK deployment process, contents, usage and limitations, and to explore its acceptability and effectiveness among healthcare workers (HCWs) in South Sudan. METHODS: This mixed-method observational study captured data from pre-and-post NCDK deployment. Six data collection tools included: (i) contextual analysis, (ii) semi-structured interviews, in addition to surveys measuring/assessing (iii) healthcare workers' knowledge about NCDs, and healthcare workers' perceptions of: (iv) health facility infrastructure, (v) pharmaceutical supply chain, and (vi) NCDK content. The pre- and post-deployment evaluations were conducted in four facilities (October-2019) and three facilities (April-2021), respectively. Descriptive statistics were used for quantitative data and content analysis for open-ended questions. A thematic analysis was applied on interviews findings and further categorized into four predetermined themes. RESULTS: Compared to baseline, two of the re-assessed facilities had improved service availability for NCDs. Respondents described NCDs as a growing problem that is not addressed at a national level. After deployment, the same struggles were intensified with the COVID-19 pandemic. The delivery process was slow and faced delays associated with several barriers. After deployment, poor communications and the "push system" of inventories were commonly perceived by stakeholders, leading to expiry/disposal of some contents. Despite being out-of-stock at baseline, at least 55% of medicines were found to be unused post-deployment and the knowledge surveys demonstrated a need for improving HCWs knowledge of NCDs. CONCLUSIONS: This assessment further confirmed the NCDK role in maintaining continuity of care on a short-term period. However, its effectiveness was dependent on the health system supply chain in place and the capacity of facilities to manage and treat NCDs. Availability of medicines from alternative sources made some of the NCDK medicines redundant or unnecessary for some health facilities. Several learnings were identified in this assessment, highlighting barriers that contributed to the kit underutilization.

ABSTRACT

Optimization of control measures for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in high-risk institutional settings (e.g., prisons, nursing homes, or military bases) depends on how transmission dynamics in the broader community influence outbreak risk locally. We calibrated an individual-based transmission model of a military training camp to the number of RT-PCR positive trainees throughout 2020 and 2021. The predicted number of infected new arrivals closely followed adjusted national incidence and increased early outbreak risk after accounting for vaccination coverage, masking compliance, and virus variants. Outbreak size was strongly correlated with the predicted number of off-base infections among staff during training camp. In addition, off-base infections reduced the impact of arrival screening and masking, while the number of infectious trainees upon arrival reduced the impact of vaccination and staff testing. Our results highlight the importance of outside incidence patterns for modulating risk and the optimal mixture of control measures in institutional settings.

Background: This is one of the first studies exploring immunity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) among blue-collar workers in Abu Dhabi. Aims: This study estimated the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection among workers living in a closed setting using qualitative analysis of the total SARS CoV-2 antibody immune response. Methods: We conducted this monocentric, prospective, observational study in a labour compound for a cohort of workers between 28 March and 6 July 2020. We tested for SARS-CoV-2 (nasopharyngeal) (RT-PCR) and anti-SARS-CoV-2 T-Ab. Results: Out of a total of 1600 workers, 1206 (75.0%) participated in the study - all were males, median age 35 years (19-63 years). We found 51% of the participants to be positive for SARS-CoV-2; the 49.0% who tested negative were considered as contacts. Anti-SARS-CoV-2 T-Ab was detected among 864 participants, showing an overall point prevalence of 71.6%. A relatively higher response was found among cases (89.0%) than among contacts (53.2%). Conclusion: This study highlights the need to prioritize public health interventions in closed settings where disease transmission is higher due to greater overall exposure. A high seroprevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 T-Ab was found among the residents. A serial quantitative study applying time series and regression models is recommended to further evaluate the sustainability of the immune response among this and similar population groups.

BACKGROUND: Despite increasing evidence on COVID-19, few studies have been conducted in humanitarian settings and none have investigated the direct and indirect effects of the pandemic in the Central African Republic. We studied the COVID-19 epidemiology, health service utilization, and health care seeking behavior in the first year of the pandemic in Bangui and surrounding areas. METHODS: This mixed-methods study encompasses four components: descriptive epidemiological analysis of reported COVID-19 cases data; interrupted time series analysis of health service utilization using routine health service data; qualitative analysis of health care workers' perceptions of how health services were affected; and health care seeking behavior of community members with a household survey and focus group discussions. RESULTS: The COVID-19 epidemiology in CAR aligns with that of most other countries with males representing most of the tested people and positive cases. Testing capacity was mainly concentrated in Bangui and skewed towards symptomatic cases, travelers, and certain professions. Test positivity was high, and many cases went undiagnosed. Decreases in outpatient department consultations, consultations for respiratory tract infections, and antenatal care were found in most study districts. Cumulative differences in districts ranged from - 46,000 outpatient department consultations in Begoua to + 7000 in Bangui 3; - 9337 respiratory tract infections consultations in Begoua to + 301 in Bangui 1; and from - 2895 antenatal care consultations in Bimbo to + 702 in Bangui 2. Consultations for suspected malaria showed mixed results while delivery of BCG vaccine doses increased. Fewer community members reported seeking care at the beginning of the pandemic compared to summer 2021, especially in urban areas. The fear of testing positive and complying with related restrictions were the main obstacles to seeking care. CONCLUSIONS: A large underestimation of infections and decreased health care utilization characterized the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangui and surrounding area. Improved decentralized testing capacity and enhanced efforts to maintain health service utilization will be crucial for future epidemics. A better understanding of health care access is needed, which will require strengthening the national health information system to ensure reliable and complete data. Further research on how public health measures interact with security constraints is needed.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has brought about enormous changes to all aspects of academic life. In spring 2020, we recruited faculty from Canadian universities who were asked to complete a survey about the perceived impact of the pandemic on aspects of their well-being and work productivity. Eight hundred ninety-nine academics from across Canada responded, reporting that the pandemic had had a significant negative impact on their mental health, work satisfaction, first-author publications, grants, and data collection. Overall weekly work hours dropped by 22% compared to prepandemic levels, from 45 hr/week to 35 hr. Though parents of children under the age of 13 managed to maintain an average of 30 hr/week despite juggling childcare and work duties, they nonetheless fared worse compared to nonparents and parents of older children on nearly all indicators of work productivity and well-being. Furthermore, mothers of young children reported having fewer uninterrupted work hours and spending more time as primary caregiver compared to fathers. Thus, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a considerable negative impact on the self-reported well-being and work productivity of Canadian academics, and even more so among parents of young children. Mothers of young children may be particularly in need of additional support. These findings highlight the importance of adopting policies at the federal and institutional levels aimed at "leveling the playing field" for these groups as well as instituting creative childcare solutions that maintain health and safety while not further disadvantaging young parents. Au printemps 2020, nous avons effectue un sondage parmi les membres du personnel d'universites canadiennes afin de connaitre les repercussions percues de la pandemie sur divers aspects de leur bien-etre et sur leur productivite. Ont repondu au questionnaire 899 personnes de partout au pays, lesquelles ont signale que la pandemie avait eu d'importantes repercussions negatives sur leur sante mentale, leur niveau de satisfaction au travail, le nombre de publications comme premier auteur, l'obtention de subventions et la collecte de donnees. Dans l'ensemble, le nombre d'heures travaillees par semaine a chute de 22 %, comparativement a celui d'avant la pandemie, passant de 45 a 35 heures. Bien que les parents d'enfants de moins de 13 ans aient reussi a maintenir un horaire moyen de 30 heures semaine, jonglant les services de garde et le travail, ils ont des resultats tres inferieurs aux personnes sans enfants ou aux parents d'enfants plus ages pour presque tous les indicateurs de productivite et de bien-etre. De plus, les meres de jeunes enfants ont rapporte avoir un nombre inferieur d'heures de travail ininterrompues et avoir consacre plus de temps comme principaux fournisseurs de soins en comparaison des peres. Ainsi, la pandemie de COVID-19 a eu d'importantes repercussions sur les niveaux autorapportes de bien-etre et de productivite des chercheurs universitaires canadiens, en particulier parmi les parents de jeunes enfants. Les meres de jeunes enfants ont peut-etre particulierement besoin de soutien supplementaire. ABSTRACT

The US population is aging, and the number and percentage of older adults is projected to increase. A minority will be unable to maintain independence and, due to social changes, these older adults will need support in long-term care facilities (LTCFs). The majority of these residents will be dentate, and some will require help with daily oral hygiene. Many will have heavily restored dentitions, which are at risk for dental disease and may require complex dental treatments. These dentitions are not receiving appropriate daily care because nurses' aides are overworked, underpaid, and undereducated with regard to the resident's oral hygiene needs. This chapter discusses dental delivery systems and describes the advantages and disadvantages of each system. According to the Ministry of Global Health, social distance is one of the most effective defenses against COVID-19 and helps to prevent its spread. Governments have imposed many safety orders on citizens and facilities to limit social distancing and slow the spread of the virus. As a result, there has been an increase in interest in technologies to research and control the spread of COVID-19 in various settings. This research aims to investigate the results of several machine learning approaches to find cases when the physical distance between people has been violated. The method first identifies the instance of the human in the video frame, tracks the movements, computes the distance with other humans on the same frame and thus estimates the number of people who violate the social distance. Compares the approach to performing the performance using Yolo, SSD and Faster R- CNN. Videos that are used in this approach are collected from the wild, considering different camera settings, indoor and outdoor scenes, and recorded from various angles. Comparing the three methods Yolo, SSD and Faster RNN, the results show Yolo has a better performance in detecting humans from the current videos and thus in determining the violation of the distance between humans. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Resumen Se presenta un caso de atención de parto eutócico sin complicaciones en una paciente COVID-19 positivo. La mujer de 33 años, tercigesta de 39 semanas, controlada en una clínica privada, acudió en trabajo de parto presentando tos no asociada a otra sintomatología. Fue diagnosticada con COVID-19 por prueba rápida IgM (+) IgG (-). Se realizó el aislamiento y se proveyó de equipo de protección personal según protocolo de la clínica. El trabajo de parto fue manejado según condiciones obstétricas, con analgesia epidural en fase activa, y teniendo como resultado un recién nacido sin complicaciones. No se realizó contacto piel a piel ni clampaje tardío. Ambos fueron dados de alta sin complicaciones previo período de aislamiento del recién nacido con estudios negativos para COVID-19. Se les realizó seguimiento telefónico en casa. En el caso presentado, se cumplió con el protocolo recomendado para la atención del parto durante la pandemia de COVID-19.


Abstract We present the case of a eutocic, uncomplicated delivery in a patient positive for COVID-19. The patient, a 33-year-old woman, 39 weeks pregnant, who had received prenatal care in a private clinic, presented in labor, coughing, without any other symptoms. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 by rapid test, IgM (+) and IgG (-). We isolated the patient and provided personal protective equipment following our clinic's protocol. Delivery was managed according to obstetric conditions, applying epidural anesthesia in the active phase; the baby was born without complications. Nor skin-to-skin contact nor delayed umbilical cord clamping were performed. Mother and child were discharged without complications after the newborn completed the required isolation period, testing negative for COVID-19. Telephone follow-up was performed. The healthcare team followed the recommended protocol to manage delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data on mpox in pregnancy are currently limited. Historically, only 65 cases in pregnancy have been reported globally since mpox was discovered in 1958. This includes 59 cases in the current outbreak. Vertical transmission was confirmed in one patient. Pregnant women are at high risk of severe disease owing to immunological and hormonal changes that increase susceptibility to infections in pregnancy. African women appear to be at higher risk of mpox infection and adverse outcomes in pregnancy for epidemiological and immunologic reasons, in addition to the background high rates of adverse feto-maternal outcomes in the region. This risk is potentially heightened during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the possibility of mpox virus exportation/importation as a result of the lifting of movement restrictions and trans-border travels between countries affected by the current outbreak. Furthermore, coinfection with mpox and COVID-19 in pregnancy is possible, and the clinical features of both conditions may overlap. Challenges of diagnosis and management of mpox in pregnancy in Africa include patients concealing their travel history from healthcare providers and absconding from/evading isolation after diagnosis, shortage of personal protective equipment and polymerase chain reaction testing facilities for diagnosis, vaccine hesitancy/resistance, and poor disease notification systems. There is a need for local, regional and global support to strengthen the capacity of African countries to address these challenges and potentially reduce the disease burden among pregnant women in the continent.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: We explored medical students' perspectives on and experiences of e-learning in Gaza and proposed relevant policy recommendations. Methods: We administered an online questionnaire to medical students in Gaza exploring (1) demographics, computer skills, and time spent on e-learning; (2) students' perception and challenges of e-learning; and (3) students' preferences of continuing medical e-learning in the future. Analysis was done using SPSS version 23. Results: Out of 1830 students invited, 470 responded, and 227 of them were basic-level students. More female students responded (58.3%, n = 256). Most participants (n = 413, 87.9%) reported moderate to high computer skills allowing them to access e-learning. Before coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19), over two-thirds (n = 321, 68.3%) spent 0-3 hours on e-learning. After COVID-19, the majority shifted, and 306 students (65.1%) reported spending at least 7 hours on various e-learning sources. The challenges for clinical-level students were mainly related to lack of practical training in the hospital (n = 196, 80%), followed by lack of interactions with real patients (n = 167, 68.7%). As for basic-level students, a majority (n = 120, 52.8%) reported lack of practical skills (eg, lab skills) as a challenge followed by unreliable internet access (n = 119, 52.4%). Pre-recoded lectures, readily available educational videos were used more than live lectures. Less than a third of all students (n = 147, 31.3%) wanted e-learning in the next term. Conclusions: Medical students in Gaza don't have a favourable experience with online medical education. There need to be actions to help overcome the challenges faced by students. This requires orchestrated actions by the government, universities, and local and international organizations.
